Andre Onana believes Erik ten Hag “has done enough to back himself” amid continued doubt over the future of the Manchester United boss.
The Cameroonian goalkeeper reunited with the Dutch boss in the summer, signing from Inter Milan. The pair had worked together previously at Ajax and Onana was chosen as the successor to David de Gea. He also retained the faith of his manager despite a slow start to life at Old Trafford.
United look set to miss out on the Champions League places with Ten Hag unable to build on his promising debut season. As a result there is a danger of the dressing room splitting as the manager looks to defend his methods, which have threatened to prove divisive.
The Red Devils boss also believes the club’s lengthy injury list hasn’t been taken into account enough with Onana claiming football “doesn’t have a memory” after Ten Hag was able to end the club’s trophy drought last term.
