Report – 45-year-old manager still alive in the race for Barcelona job

Despite conflicting reports about Barcelona director Deco and coordinator Bojan Krkic’s alleged meeting with Hansi Flick in London, Rafa Marquez remains a strong contender to replace Xavi as Barcelona’s manager. Some sources claim Deco and Bojan met with Flick and his agent, while others deny any such meeting occurred. Regardless, Flick has emerged as a leading candidate for the role.

However, Rafa Marquez, currently managing Barça Atletic, is still very much in the running. The 45-year-old Mexican coach is not just an interim option but a serious candidate due to his deep understanding of the club and its youth players.

Deco believes Marquez’s familiarity with Barcelona’s system and his successful tenure with the subsidiary team make him well-suited to succeed Xavi. As of now, if Xavi departs, the choice for his replacement seems to be between Marquez and Flick.
