Xavi: Next Barcelona manager will ‘suffer’

Outgoing Barcelona boss Xavi has warned that his successor will “suffer” in the demanding role. The 44-year-old Spaniard was dismissed before Barcelona’s final game of the season, a 2-1 victory over Sevilla. Former Germany and Bayern Munich manager Hansi Flick is expected to take over. Xavi, who was initially set to leave the club in January but reversed his decision in April, emphasized the challenges his successor will face, stating, “This is a very complicated place to be. This is a difficult job and you have to be patient.”

Xavi, a former Spain midfielder, took charge of Barcelona in November 2021 and led the team to win La Liga and the Spanish Super Cup in his first full season. Despite these successes, the team finished second in La Liga this season, trailing champions Real Madrid by 10 points.
