Walker ‘shocked’ by Grealish’s England omission but understands Southgate choice

Jack Grealish’s omission from England’s squad left Kyle Walker ‘shocked’.

The Manchester City winger was a high-profile absentee from Gareth Southgate‘s Euro 2024 squad following a disappointing campaign at the Etihad.

While he scooped a third consecutive Premier League title, he saw his game time limited with Phil Foden, Bernardo Silva and Jeremy Doku preferred instead.

The 28-year-old was restricted to just 20 top-flight matches, which saw him chip in with three goals and one assist.

And despite being a key player for Three Lions at Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup, Southgate made the big call to leave him out of his squad for Germany.

Grealish’s Citizens teammate Walker has discussed his surprise that the ex-Aston Villa skipper was left at home, but conceded his form could have been better.
