Ratcliffe and INEOS might be about to make their first Man United mistake

Mauricio Pochettino was sacked by Chelsea on Tuesday night despite ending the season strongly, and he’s now linked with replacing Erik ten Hag at Manchester United. United fans had high hopes for Ten Hag, who had a stellar first season, finishing third in the Premier League and winning the Carabao Cup.

However, his second season has been disappointing, with early exits from the Carabao Cup and European competitions, and an eighth-place league finish. Although United fans have shown patience, the overall poor performance this season puts Ten Hag’s future at risk, and winning the FA Cup might not be enough to save him.

Pochettino, despite being a candidate for the United job before Ten Hag’s appointment, hasn’t been seen as an ideal choice by fans. His managerial career has been on a downward trend since his successful period at Tottenham. Pochettino struggled during his 18-month stint at Paris Saint-Germain and faced a tough situation at Chelsea, dealing with a chaotic club environment and an inexperienced squad.

Although Chelsea showed statistical improvement under his leadership, inconsistencies in their performances were evident. As United contemplates Ten Hag’s potential replacement, Pochettino’s recent track record suggests he might not be the elite coach the club needs, making this a critical decision for new co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the INEOS team.
