Premier League club lining up Mauricio Pochettino following Chelsea exit

Mauricio Pochettino could soon make a Premier League return after mutually parting ways with Chelsea on Tuesday. His season at Stamford Bridge was marked by inconsistent team performances and a sixth-place league finish, drawing criticism. Despite this, Manchester United are reportedly considering Pochettino to replace Erik ten Hag, should the Dutch manager be dismissed. United finished eighth in the league, their lowest ever, casting doubt on Ten Hag’s future.

New co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is keen on making significant changes this summer, and Pochettino, despite a rocky tenure at Chelsea, remains highly regarded due to his successful spells at Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain.

Pochettino, who was a strong contender for the United job in 2022 before Ten Hag’s appointment, is admired by Ratcliffe and viewed as a more affordable option compared to other potential candidates like Graham Potter, Roberto De Zerbi, Thomas Tuchel, and Gareth Southgate. As United prepares for possible managerial changes, Pochettino’s attacking style and talent for developing young players make him an attractive choice. With several clubs seeking new managers this summer, Pochettino won’t be short of opportunities, and his next move could see him back in a top Premier League role.
