‘I’d like to know’ – Jurgen Klopp sends parting 115 charges message to Pep Guardiola and Man City


Jurgen Klopp believes Pep Guardiola is the greatest manager in the world – but admits he wants to know if Manchester City are guilty of FFP breaches that may have helped them dominate the Premier League.

City and Guardiola are on the brink of a fourth successive title. If they beat West Ham United at the Etihad today, they will seal a historic crown.

‌While many eyes will be on what happens at the Etihad and also the Emirates Stadium, where City’s title rivals Arsenal take on Everton, there will also be a strong focus on Liverpool, with Klopp bringing down the curtain on his managerial reign at the Merseysiders.

It will bring an end to one of the greatest managerial rivalries in the Premier League era. Klopp and Guardiola have gone head-to-head in competing for championships, with the German the one manager who has a better record against his Spanish adversary. Klopp’s record of one Premier League title, a Champions League, and FA Cup and two Carabao Cups could have been a whole lot more if it wasn’t for Guardiola’s genius.

Liverpool’s title triumph in 2020 was the only time in six seasons that City haven’t claimed the crown, while they lost just once in the 2019 season – to City – and amassed a stunning 97 points, only to be usurped by Guardiola’s side.

Klopp believes Guardiola is the best in the business, regardless of the financial might City have had – and any potential benefit they had from FFP breaches being investigated by the Premier League. However, he also admitted he wants answers himself about the 115 Premier League charges that continue to cast a shadow over City’s achievements.
