Manna pushes for Conte to lead Napoli, with Pioli as backup option

Giovanni Manna, recently appointed as Napoli’s sporting director, is eager to bring Antonio Conte to the club. Manna, who just transitioned from Juventus to Napoli, has promptly begun his new role, meeting with key figures such as Aurelio De Laurentiis’ aide, Andrea Chiavelli.

His immediate priority is finding a permanent head coach to replace Francesco Calzona. Despite Gian Piero Gasperini being a favorite of De Laurentiis, the Atalanta coach is expected to remain with his current team due to their upcoming Champions League commitments.

Manna is actively advocating for Conte, emphasizing his winning mentality and garnering support from the squad. Recent discussions between Napoli and Conte suggest serious interest in his potential appointment.

However, if the Conte negotiations fall through, Stefano Pioli is a viable alternative. Pioli, who is close to departing from Milan after a five-year tenure, is also on Manna’s radar as Napoli aims to solidify its leadership for the upcoming season.
