Man City may get Rodri blow in title race and then Liverpool edge would be clear

LIVERPOOL

This time around, Liverpool does not just have to contend with staving off Manchester City in the Premier League title race. Arsenal is also in the mix and is in fact the closest challenger to the league leader at the moment.

Whether it is true or not, perhaps there is a feeling that Manchester City, despite being a point behind Arsenal in the standings at the time of writing, remains the biggest threat. As was discussed on this week’s Liverpool.com podcast, it is the gap to Pep Guardiola’s side that feels the most significant.

With that being the case, all eyes will be on what happens this week. Manchester City will play Aston Villa at home on Wednesday and then travels to Crystal Palace in the early kick-off on Saturday. Liverpool can expect Guardiola’s team to get six points there, but it would not be a complete surprise to see someone steal a point. (Arsenal, in the same period, has Luton and then Brighton).

The title race will come down to fine margins and therefore it could be interesting to note the situation that could unfold in the next couple of fixtures that Manchester City faces. Rodri is not far away from picking up a two-game ban.
