Gary Neville makes Liverpool point in furious promise to Nottingham Forest

Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville has insisted that Nottingham Forest shall regret making their statement and compared it to Liverpool’s similar post after controversy vs Tottenham Hotspur.

The Reds were left angered by three decisions which they felt should have gone their way in the 2-0 loss to Everton at Goodison Park. After the match, Forest released a statement on social media suggesting that VAR official Stuart Attwell should not have been officiating the game because of his allegiance to fellow relegation rivals Luton Town.

Jurgen Klopp’s side were left similarly aggrieved and said they were consulting their options earlier in the season when they had a goal ruled out for offside against Spurs that was clearly onside. This was criticised by Neville at the time and he laughed when Forest’s statement also suggested they were exploring their options.

“But they have grabbed defeat from victory in the way that they have handled it. It’s like a petulant child it’s embarrassing.

“And some of those things they are saying in there, the inferring of cheating because there is an official in VAR in Stockley Park who is a Luton fan is a scandal and they will pay for that. And they will regret that as a football club because of their history and how they have presented themselves very well over a long period.

“They will regret that statement. The last line, they will consider all options, I was very critical of Liverpool earlier this season after the Tottenham game.
