Gareth Southgate explains Jack Grealish snub for England’s Euro 2024 squad

England manager Gareth Southgate has excluded Jack Grealish from the Euro 2024 squad due to his lack of form at Manchester City.

The squad was trimmed from 33 to 26 ahead of the final warm-up game against Iceland at Wembley. Grealish, who struggled with fitness and form last season, was a surprising omission.

Tottenham’s James Maddison was also left out. Southgate explained that the decisions were based on the stronger performances of other players over the last six months. He acknowledged the tough choices and emphasized the depth of attacking options available to the team.
