Chelsea legend slams ‘horrible’ players who ‘think they’re better than they are’

Ruud Gullit has slammed Chelsea’s “horrible” and “embarrassing” players for thinking “they are better than they actually are”.

The Dutch legend, who played for Chelsea between 1995 and 1998, won the FA Cup as player-manager in his first season in charge of the Blues. But as someone who knows a thing or two about successful teams and players, Gullit has been left disgusted by the current state of the Chelsea team.

The 61-year-old, who appeared at the 2024 Laureus Sports Awards on Monday, took aim at the west Londoners from top to bottom, highlighting poor squad building and criticising the current crop of players for their “lack of quality” and egos.
