The offseason is in full swing for the St. Louis Blues after Tuesday’s announcement that Drew Bannister has been named the 27th head coach in franchise history.
Coaches and players have dispersed, including some heading off to the IIHF World Championship, held from May 10. to 26 in Prague and Ostrava, Czechia.
Those suiting up for Team Canada are Colton Parayko, Jordan Binnington and Joel Hofer, which means the Blues’ goalie tandem will make up two-thirds of the netminders on the Canadian roster.
“It says that our goaltending is in a good spot,” Blues general manager Doug Armstrong said. “It bodes well, having guys play internationally and thought of by their countries as players they’re proud to represent them.”
In addition, Blues assistant coach Steve Ott will be on Canada’s coaching staff. He recently finished his seventh season in St. Louis and is expected back on the bench in 2024-25.
