Arsenal and Man City poised for Rice repeat in £100m summer transfer battle

Arsenal and Manchester City are set to reignite their transfer rivalry, with the duo preparing to battle it out over Newcastle star Bruno Guimaraes.

The Premier League title rivals went head to head for the signature of Declan Rice last summer. The Gunners ultimately won that race, shelling out a club-record £105million to sign the midfielder from West Ham.

Rice has since gone on to be a key player for Mikel Arteta’s side as they have launched another title bid this term. But they are likely to renew that rivalry as attention is turning to the summer window.

Guimaraes is expected to be the subject of major interest from a host of top teams. The Brazilian has starred for Newcastle since arriving in January 2022, though the Magpies may be forced to sell him given their FFP problems.

According to the Daily Telegraph, both Arsenal and City are considering a move for the midfielder this summer. Guimaraes is said to be aware of the interest of both clubs, with PSG also weighing up a move.
